Located just a short trip across the harbor via the New York Circle Line, this great museum is the actual site where 17 million immigrants came into this country between 1892 and 1954. The historic buildings have been extensively restored and the exhibits are quite fascinating. Of special note are the interactive kiosks that allow visitors the ability to learn more about their own family's emigration to this country (provided they stopped here along the way). A wonderful and educational place to bring children, Ellis Island is a celebration about the proud multi-cultural history and traditions of this country.

This major movie multiplex wasn't built all that long ago. Located on the north end of Battery Park City, all 16 mega-screens now show first-run films with an occasional less mainstream selection thrown in for good measure. It's also the main (but not only) venue for screenings for the Tribeca Film Festival.

New York and the skyscraper are inextricably bound, at least in postcard form. This museum stands in homage to the steely, glass towers and old brick and mortar behemoths of Manhattan. Chock full of extensive architectural plans, history, litigation, photography and press, it provides a comprehensive look at the development of the famed New York City skyline (with a special tribute to the destruction of the Twin Towers and future plans for Ground Zero). They are also running a special exhibit dedicated to the cultural legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright.
