Just a bar. This place doesn't pretend to have a theme or a scene or anything other than the basics. The choice of brew is better than most, and the atmosphere is notably average.
While it's rival across the street, The Russian Samovar, takes an old-world traditional approach, this Slavic hipster creates a more modern lounge experience. Black marble and carpeting set the tone for the cool interior. The crowd tends to be on the younger side and the main beverage is, of course, vodka in all its flavorful forms.
One of New York's Grand Dames of luxury. This century-old landmark was long associated with Colonel J. Astor. Being an Astor he knew that only the best would do. To this day the marble, gilt and crystal appointments are impeccably maintained. The service is exceptional. Not to mention, The King Cole bar is one of the city's most treasured drinking haunts. This is one of Manhattan's finest hotels.
The View/Marriott Marquis
Tourist heaven, this rotating bar sits directly on Time Square and has the feel of a private box overlooking the big game below. The atmosphere is fun, provided the attitude is set on tourist kitsch.

Actually four separate establishments, no matter which one you choose, you are sure to be surrounded by stylish folks of all ages sooner than you can say "I'll have a blood-orange cosmo." The mixed concoctions are notably good, but nothing competes with the overall scene.
