The Urban Glass House, located at 330 Spring Street in SoHo, is an elegant, 12-story, 40 residential condominium building designed by famed architect Philip Johnson and Alan Ritchie. As Johnson's last residential commission, the building's cube-like shape, clean lines, and glass façades follow the tenets of the International Style of Modernism epitomized in Mr. Johnson's work.
Annabelle Selldorf, has designed interiors for many contemporary artists, including Jeff Koons, Eric Fischl, and David Salle, and used her signature aesthetic to compose the 39 apartments, one penthouse unit and the building lobby using palettes of black, gray, and silver and an amalgam of matte and reflective surfaces.
She designed a chevron-pattern for the apartment floors in white oak to elegantly evoke brick flooring. Kitchens gleam with Bulthaup black linoleum cabinetry and Absolute Black granite countertops. State-of-the-art appliances from Kuppersbusch, Miele, Viking and Sub-Zero make cooking, and even cleanup, a pleasure. Baths feature Annabelle Selldorf-designed vanities, Zuma bathtubs and Grohe Atrio polished chrome fixtures.
Not only are the residences complete with top-of-the-line appliances and finishes but the apartments have been outfitted with the "latest broadband and satellite technology" as well the Jetsons-esque feature of "remote-controlled motorized window shades that regulate sunlight at the touch of a button."
Located where SoHo, TriBeCa and the Far West Village converge, the Urban Glass House is convenient to numerous restaurants and the many attractions of downtown and the Financial District.
