121 West 72nd Street: CARTER'S REVIEW

This very handsome 16-story, co-operative apartment building at 121 West 72nd Street has 91 apartments and towers over most of its neighbors on the north side of the street.

The brown-brick building has a three-story rusticated limestone base with an arched entrance. It has a 24-hour attended lobby and a roof deck and some decoative window surrounds.

From 1959 to 1962, Isaac Bashevis Singer, the author, lived in the building, which was erected in 1926.

It was converted to a co-operative in 1984.

The building is not far from Central Park and the subway station at Broadway. It is convenient to numerous restaurants and shops and not far from the Lincoln Center for The Performing Arts.
