In 1925, Samuel Kheel commissioned William I. Hohauser to design this 20-story commercial building at 315 Seventh Avenue on the southeast corner of 28th Street.

The building became known as the Kheel Tower and is one of the more distinguished buildings along Seventh Avenue south of Penn Station and Herald Square and west of the Flower District.

The building is now across the avenue from the Fashion Institute of Technology, which occupies much of both sides of 27th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues. The city's Garment Center is located several blocks away, north of 34th Street.

The building has a live-in super, handymen, a freight elevator and laundry rooms on several floors. There is a local subway station at the corner.

The handsome building has a four-story white stone base with an arched entrance and three angled setbacks beneath its pitched roof. The building's mass is nicely modulated by piers that emphasize the building's verticality.
