110 East End Avenue

110 East End Avenue Location Map

Overview of 110 East End Avenue

110 East End Avenue is a 14 story, 143 unit post-war condominium in Yorkville, completed in 1951 and designed by Hyman Isaac Feldman. The beige brick building occupies the southwest corner of 85th Street, directly across from Carl Schurz Park and the East River. Feldman, a prolific designer of Manhattan apartment buildings including 799 Park Avenue, 1025 Fifth Avenue, and several other East End Avenue properties, gave this otherwise straightforward building a distinctive touch through delicate balcony railings with diagonal patterning that protrude slightly from the façade above the canopied entrance. The building retains its original multipaned windows, which soften the overall massing, and sits adjacent to the Chapin School's Georgian style building at 84th Street and across 85th Street from 120 East End Avenue.

Apartments share a recognizable layout, with large gallery entry foyers, spacious living rooms, and separate kitchens. Many have been renovated with granite countertops and backsplashes, and king size bedrooms are common. Layouts range from one bedroom to five room configurations, with some units offering convertible dining alcoves that can serve as third bedrooms. Park facing apartments have direct views of Carl Schurz Park and the East River, and select units include private balconies.

The building has 24 hour doorman service, a full service garage, laundry facilities, and an intercom system. Pets are permitted. East End Avenue carries minimal traffic at this stretch, and the main entrance to Carl Schurz Park is one block north at 86th Street. Chapin's expansion plans in the mid-1990s and again in 2006 drew documented community controversy, including a dispute over windows along the shared wall with 110 East End Avenue that was covered multiple times by The New York Times.
