It is located mid-block on the east side of Fifth Avenue between 9th and Tenth Streets in the prime section of "Lower Fifth Avenue," the most elegant area of Greenwich Village that extends from the north side of Washington Square Park and extends most of the way to the Avenue of the Americas and University Place.

Some of the apartments have fireplaces and there is a live-in superintendent, an elevator and a laundry.

There is good public transportation and considerable "light and air" because of the presence of two very handsome 19th Century churches on the west side of the avenue on the northwest corners at 10th and 11th Streets.

It was the first property purchased by Duell Management, which encountered some community resistence in 2001 to plans to replace a one-story building on the northwest corner of 10th Street and the Avenue of the Americas, directly across from the landmark Jefferson Market Courthouse, with a six-story residential building. That plan did not advance.
