The building, which has a one-story limestone base with broad, rounded fluting, a very handsome, white marble lobby, doorman and sidewalk landscaping. Its entrance has both a canopy and a large stainless-steel marquee.

The building, which has many comer windows, is just to the east of the Dewitt Nursing Home, which has a large, landscaped plaza.

This section of the Upper East Side is quite lively with many restaurants and excellent neighborhood shopping nearby. There are also numerous schools and religious and cultural institutions in the vicinity. There is good cross-town bus service on 79th Street and a subway station is nearby at Lexington Avenue and 77th Street.
