As Brownstoner notes, shortly before the church closed in the mid-1970s, it served as a meeting place for the Gay Alliance of Brooklyn, one of the city's first gay rights groups outside of Manhattan. When the building was converted into a cooperative, original features such as high ceilings, exposed stone, and stained glass windows were thoughtfully preserved.
