Overview

About Beekman Hill, 319 East 50th Street

This quite handsome, 12-story, dark brown-brick apartment building between First and Second Avenues was erected in 1931 and converted to a cooperative in 1985. The building has some very attractive terracotta balconies and trim and its roofline has some setback terraces and the top floor windows are arched. The eclectic composition is slight, but pleasant.

The 115-unit building is a short walk to the many major office buildings on Third Avenue and not too far from the Beekman Place neighborhood and the United Nations Park.

Although there is considerable traffic on the avenues in this neighborhood, the sidestreets are relatively quiet and many restaurants are nearby that cater to the Sutton Place and Beekman Place clientele.

There is good cross-town bus service on 50th Street and there are subway stations at 53rd and Third and 50th and Lexington Avenues.
