Overview

   About 110 West 86th Street

This handsome, 16-story apartment building was built in 1920 and converted to a condominium in 1985. It has 79 apartments.

The beige-brick, Italian-Renaissance-palazzo-style building has a one-story rusticated limestone base and a canopied entrance that leads to a step-down lobby. It has an unusual and attractive roofline with a small cornice topped by 6 finials. The second floor has some attractive window pediments and there are decorative spandrels higher up in the center of the building's facade.

The building has a doorman and permits protruding air-conditioners. It has an exposed rooftop watertank, no sidewalk landscaping, no health club and no garage.

Central Park is one long block away as is a subway station at Central Park West. Another subway station is two blocks away in the other direction at Broadway. There is excellent cross-town bus service.

The area has good schools and several religious institutions and one of the city's nicest strips of sidewalk cafés is just to the south on Columbus Avenue.
