About The Croft, 71 Nassau Street
Nassau Street is the Financial District's major shopping street. It may not be the most chic but it has a wide assortment of retailers and is convenient to public transportation.
This building, which is known as The Croft, is located at 71 Nassau Street on the northwest corner at John Street and it is one of the street's most attractive and impressive pre-war buildings.
It was erected as an 16-story, office building in 1905 and converted to a condominium in 2005 by Yair Levy Development Corporation and the Skyway Development Group. Arpad Baksa was the architect for the conversion.
It has 52 apartments.
The white-brick building, which is also known as 25-31 John Street, has a concierge, a fitness center and a roofdeck and its lobby design by Shamir Shah has bamboo resin panels and exotic stones.
Apartments have high ceilings, double-pane windows and SubZero and Bosch appliances.
The building has an exposed rooftop watertank, a two-step entrance, no garage and no sidewalk landscaping. It has a two-story rusticated limestone base and its top three floors are also rusticated. It has five stringcourses and a cornice with center decorative elements.
It is one block north of the Federal Reserve Bank Building and one block east of Broadway. It is also just to the east of an OTB parlor as well as an attractive bistro called Les Halles.
