The reinvention of the Crowne Plaza brand has recently opened in the form of Crowne Plaza HY36, a new property in Midtown West. Guests enter through the lobby, which is adjacent to a business center with private meeting rooms. However, it is not all work and no play here; the hotel is also home to the Great American, a restaurant inspired by an upscale sports bar, as well as an outdoor patio with a bar and retractable roof with skylight. Additional amenities include complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and a fully equipped fitness center with Peloton equipment.

In the 251 rooms, guests can look out floor-to-ceiling windows at city views. Interiors by K & Co. use natural materials and vibrant colors to create a modern, welcoming design. Guest rooms also feature retractable bed lights, wireless charging stations, premium pillows, and rainfall showers in spa-like baths.

Acclaimed hospitality designer Stonehill Taylor took inspiration from the neighboring architecture to create a modern industrial look for the 26-story hotel. The façade’s corrugated metal and glass panels are arranged in a vertical configuration. An eight-story steel and glass atrium is supported by galvanized steel trusses and accented with 50-foot-tall light fixtures. Concrete columns run the height of the atrium.
Crowne Plaza HY36 opens in a neighborhood that is much appreciated by business and leisure travelers alike for its easy access to Times Square, Madison Square Garden, Pennsylvania Station, Hudson Yards, and Javits Center. It is also in the middle of a hospitality boom; just yesterday, we reported on the construction of a new hotel at 255 West 34th Street. Another new hotel is under construction at 525 Eighth Avenue, and part of 35 Hudson Yards will be home to the first Equinox brand hotel. MOXY Times Square opened in September 2017.
