Harry Macklowe’s sequel to 432 Park Avenue has reached its full 490-foot height. The building is located at 200 East 59th Street across from Bloomingdale’s and is designed by the in-demand firm of CetraRuddy. The tower sits on a boxy retail base clad in a basket-weave pattern. Above, the tower narrows to 4,000-square-foot floor plates that hold 67 condos with wraparound terraces that “give the building a Miami Beach look” says the developer.

Prices currently start at $2.26 million for a one-bedroom and feature open living spaces with skyline and river views. To help the building stand out from other condos, Macklowe commissioned DBOX to put together an innovative marketing campaign born out of a staff meeting where it was joked that the terraces are large enough to house an entire circus.

Over the years, we’ve seen several memorable condo campaigns such as William Beaver House’s sex-infused illustrations, Platinum’s painted bodies in bathing suits and 100 Avenue A’s camouflaged models blending into East Village locations. Now, according to the Wall Street Journal, Macklowe has “queued up a menagerie of fiberglass giraffes, elephants and rhinos” to attract buyers and to show off the spaciousness of the building’s wrap-around balconies.

The paper says after the top floor is poured, an 18½ foot tall replica of a giraffe and a 12-foot-long elephant will be mounted on a temporary pedestal on the building. Now that the building is topped off, we'll keep our eyes peeled for these larger-than-life critters.
