We didn't see any $20 million discounts in last week's top five recorded sales, but we did see a significant discount for the number one spot. Rosario Candela's 12 East 88th Street was converted into condos by Simon Baron Development and launched sales in December 2015. Unit #6A hit the market for $13,250,000 the following year but was delisted until earlier this year, when it was asking a much lower $8,950,000. The sponsor unit, which spans nearly 4,000 square feet and contains five beds and four baths, entered contract for $8,675,000.

The second priciest recorded sale came from full-floor unit #12NS in the Greenwich Village co-op 30 East 10th Street. It was bought by Kevin Wendle Family Trust for $1 million over its $6.9 million ask. Kevin Wendle, a "man of many titles," is the co-founder of K2 Media Labs, CNET, E! Online, and Fox Broadcasting Company, and owner of Hotel Esencia in Tulum, Mexico. Wendle also owns a Rhode Island estate in Watch Hill and is neighbors with Taylor Swift. Swift has lived there since 2013 and has thrown numerous A-list parties in her 11,000-square-foot home, including a fourth of July party, where instagram pics were snapped of her and then-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston and celeb friends Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively.

As for luxury contracts, 24 were signed last week, which was considered a "dazzling late August performance" by Olshan. The total marked the 25th week this year that 20 or more contracts were signed at $4 million and up. Contracts were pricier than closings, with the first spot going to a $22.5 million co-op at The Pierre. A unit renovation was completed in 2010, and highlights include 3 bedrooms, a library, 10.5-foot ceilings, and Central Park views from three rooms.

This second contract requires a little more imagination. 11 Hubert Street is a 50-foot-wide, 3-story building that entered contract for nearly $20M, down from its $35 million ask last year. It's being sold with a set of approved building plans designed by Maya Lin and was supposed to be her first townhouse project in NYC, but the owner decided to sell. Her proposal outlines a 20,000-square-foot home with 5,000 square feet of outdoor space, a 4-car garage, an 80-foot indoor swimming pool, sports courts, wine room, spa, movie theater, and more.
