When Edward Baquero, President of Corigin Real Estate Group, was interviewed by 6sqft in March, he detailed the painstaking work that went into achieving that old New York luxury feel in his latest building, 20 East End Avenue. By partnering up with renowned architect Robert A. M. Stern, the two were able to evoke "a time when the Astors, Vanderbilts, and Rockefellers dominated Manhattan and defined luxury." Everything from the rise and feel of the building's stringer staircase to the pitch of the three-tiered water fountain in the motor court was tested and retested. And it looks like the effort – which Baquero says almost killed him – paid off. Less than two weeks on the market, Penthouse B went into contract and sold three weeks ago for $26.3 million – the highest sale ever recorded on East End Avenue.

Now, just four of the building's 41 units are available, with prices starting at $11 million. And if you think that number's high, let me introduce you to Penthouse A, which came back on the market just five days ago asking $39.5 million, nearly $5 million more than what it was asking last year. PHA is currently the seventh most expensive sales listing in the Upper East Side, and unsurprisingly, the priciest in Yorkville.

Encompassing a generous 6,050 square feet and offering 4,542 square feet of terrace space, PHA is a one-of-a-kind penthouse inspired by classic pre-war homes. There are five bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms, an additional library and family room (because one living room isn't enough), a formal dining room, and an impressive rooftop terrace that offers 360-degree views of Manhattan and the East River and was designed to support an outdoor kitchen and a swimming pool.

An impressive chef's kitchen is complete with custom cabinetry, Calacatta Monarch countertops and backsplash, Lefroy Brooks hardware, and a full Gaggenau appliance package, which includes futuristic digital shelves that change height with the press of a button and in-wall coffee machines with separate warming drawers.
