While classics like the San Remo may always have their place on New York City's star maps, there always seems to be a fresh crop of buildings that attract stars of stage, screen, court and green, badly-behaved starlets, heartthrob boy-banders, startup upstarts and billionaire financiers. The A-list buildings below are a fair bet if you're hoping to spot a supermodel or live downstairs from a pop diva.

This seven-story Tribeca building that spent its earlier years housing silver, drug, book-binding, toy and steel-wool companies boasts a $58 million penthouse and a 4,000-square-foot landscaped courtyard complete with sassafras trees. But the newly-minted residence is getting a name as a celebrity magnet (buyers have included Harry Styles, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, Jake Gyllenhaal, Meg Ryan and Jennifer Lawrence) due to its reputation for both ultmate luxury and absolute privacy from the paparazzi (underground valet parking!).

When Taylor Swift bought the penthouse in this Tribeca loft building from director Peter Jackson, then went about having it renovated, the 10-unit, six-story 1882 loft building gained a foothold in the city's list of celebrity real estate regulars. Fame in the house is a double-edged sword, apparently: Orlando Bloom sold his place after merely a month here because of all the commotion allegedly wrought by fans and photographers of Ms. Swift.
