This pre-war building has a superb Midtown West location that is one block south of Central Park, one block north of Carnegie Hall and two blocks east of the Time Warner Center at Columbus Centre.

It was built in 1911 and has a cornice and an attractive entrance surround and protruding air-conditioners.

It has hosted numerous restaurants over the years in its retail spaces and also was used as the Park Savoy Hotel and as a single-room occupancy hotel.

It is 9 stories tall and has about 106 units. It has balconies on some of its alternate floors.

There is excellent public transportation in the area, which is not too far from the elegant stores of Fifth Avenue and the cultural events at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

The 1937 film, "Stage Door," adapted from a play of the same name, several would-be actresses lived in a boarding house at 158 West 58th Street. The movie was adapted from the play by Edna Ferber and George S. Kaufman and Mr. Kaufman lived in the building. The film was directed by Gregory La Cava and its stars included Katherine Helpburn, Ginger Rogers, Adolphe Menjou, Lucille Ball, Eve Arden, Ann Miller, Jack Carson and Franklin Pangborn. It was nominated for an Oscar as best picture.
