Review of 212 East 47th Street by Carter Horsley

This handsome, 35-story apartment building was erected in 1979 with 261 rental apartments. It was converted to a condominium by Extell Development in 2007. It had formerly been known as "L'Ecole."

The beige-brick, mid-block tower has a canopied entrance and a dark glass greenhouse entrance with a doorman and a concierge. It has lush, spiked sidewalk landscaping, many balconies, a garage, a roof deck, a health club and is close to the Vanderbilt YMCA. Its entrance also has a curved ramp.

In the conversion, buyers were offered three different finish schemes for the kitchens and baths.

In the condominium conversion, buyers were offered three different finish schemes, called "collections," for the kitchens and baths to personalize their spaces.

Collection 1 has natural wood flooring, moon white granite kitchen countertops, Calacatta marble brick mosaic backsplash, wenge wood lower kitchen cabinets and aluminum framed frosted glass upper kitchen cabinets.

Collection 2 has French white oak flooring with Gramercy stain, crystallized white glass kitchen countertops, rosewood kitchen cabinets and Grigio Carnio stone bathroom counters and floors and mahogany bathroom vanities.

Collection 3 has Berti wood Jatoba flooring with Venetian brown stain, brown-toned Gaudi marble and Tabu wood in the bathroom.

La Palestra, an expert in combining the medical and fitness industry, has designed the building s gym.

The Turtle Bay location offers easy access to cross-town bus service, as well as close proximity to Grand Central Terminal to the west and the United Nations complex a couple of blocks to the east.

It has a revolving front door and consistent fenestration.
