There's another one of these interesting markets down in the East Village not far from NYU. They both carry an eclectic mix of Japanese and Korean food items that span from rice noodles to raw fish (for making your own sashimi). They also have an eclectic carry-out menu that features sushi and bento-boxes.

A neighborhood fixture since 1943, to this date it remains a favorite destination for kids and adults of all ages craving a little something sugary. There's nothing too exotic here. Just chocolate and candy the way you remember it being when you were a kid.

Another branch or Oren's, like all its sibs, they roast their beans locally so they are always guaranteed fresh. With over 50 roasts and varieties to choose from, they also feature a nice selection of baked goods from Balthazar Bakery and Yura.

Silver Moon is one of the newer bakeries in the neighborhood. Its French pastries and fresh breads have been a huge hit in this carb-starved neighborhood. They also offer a nice selection of sandwiches (with lots of vegetarian options to choose from) as well as salads and wraps. Last but not least, the staff seems almost preternaturally friendly.
