The Aurora - 554 Third Avenue: CARTER'S REVIEW

This 31-story condominium apartment building at 554 Third Avenue between 36th and 37th Streets was erected in 2002 and was designed by H. Thomas O'Hara.

The mid-block building is cantilevered a bit over a four-story building on the southwest corner at 37th Street.

The gray building, which is called the Aurora, has dark red spandrels and some inset balconies at the top of the slender tower.

It has 166 apartments, a health club, a doorman and a roof deck. It has a canopied entrance on Third Avenue where it rises 7 stories and then sets back its tower.

It is in the Murray Hill neighborhood and not too far from Grand Central Terminal.
