The Future CLOSE
Designed by Costas Kondylis Architects for developer Donald Zucker, the 35-story tower is a welcome outpost of design relief from the otherwise drab nearby Third Avenue environment. Paul Rudolph, one of the country’s most important architects, was a design consultant on this project.
Although the 165-unit condominium tower is a bit ungainly in its tall proportions, the fenestration treatment is subtle, even delicate and most pleasing. The shiny, modernistic façade is stylistically continued in the project’s impressive entrance and large plaza.
The building has a sundeck, concierge, doorman, children’s playroom, bicycle room, garage and some fireplaces. Its upper floors offer impressive views.
