City Scents: Bond No. 9 Opens High Line Store

JULY 8, 2011

Bond No. 9, the eponymous NoHo-based fragrance boutique with an international following has brought its city scents to the Meat Packing district.

The Bond No. 9 collection of women’s, men’s, and unisex fragrance has as its mission to mark every New York neighborhood with a scent of its own. Each fragrance represents a specific downtown, midtown, or uptown locale or a city-wide sensibility. In addition to “Brooklyn,” “Astor Place,” “Madison Square Park,” “Andy Warhol” and many more, and in keeping with its West Side location, the newly-opened Washington Street shop carries the company’s “Bond No. 9 High Line” fragrance. This newest addition is a combination of floral and herbal scents—many of them based on species found in the park—including Redleaf Rose, Grape Hyacinth, Lady Jane Tulips, and Bur Oak. Bond No. 9 has made a generous donation to the High Line itself, and a portion of all US sales of Bond No. 9 High Line go toward supporting the High Line’s maintenance and operations.

In a layout much like that of the Bond Street flagship store, you’ll find a perfume salon at the front of the shop beneath a classic chandelier. You can sip a complimentary tea at the tearoom/library in the back, and a custom-blending service provides the opportunity to create your own New York neighborhood-based fragrance. In line with the neighborhood’s reputation for nightlife, the new Bond No. 9 store will offer extended hours so you can stop in for a sniff between cocktails.
