Distrikt Hotel Hearts NY

FEBRUARY 5, 2010

A new midtown hotel embraces the Manhattan experience.

The newest addition—as of February 1—to Manhattan’s growing roster of chic chain-tique hotels, Distrikt hopes to be counted among the resting addresses recommended to visiting friends and family. The 155-room hotel—near the traditionally un-glamorous Port Authority—offers New York City in all its glory as both its theme and its surroundings. Each of 32 guest floors is named for a well-known Manhattan neighborhood (SoHo, Chelsea, etc.), and rooms above the 16th floor have a great view of the Manhattan Skyline.

The Distrikt lobby features a “living wall”—in this case a 14-footer in the shape of Central Park. From Standard Queens to Deluxe Kings, rooms promise Frette linens, Ecru New York bath products, free wireless internet, and other comforts and amenities modern travelers have come to expect from sleek sleeping quarters with fewer square feet and more personality. The hotel’s restaurant, Collage, is a bistro by day and a bar—serving local beer—by night.
