New Developments in the News

JULY 20, 2009

The market may be looking up for the city's commercial real estate, and the West side makes room for two new condo towers.

A report issued by brokerage company Cushman & Wakefield claims that the worst may be behind us as far as commercial markets go. They also predicted some reversal in the trend toward declining commercial rents and increased availability.

Cassa NY at 70 west 45th street has finished its rise to 43 stories. The mixed-use tower will contain a hotel and residential condos with a 24-hour concierge, room service, full housekeeping, child care and other hotel-related amenties available to residents. The building will also feature its own restaurant in addition to a rear garden and a lounge and terrace on the 8th floor.

Plans have been filed for an 18 story condo at 2150 Broadway at 76th Street. The new residence will be known as the Laureate as befits its Upper West Side location near Zabar's, the Beacon Theater and other neighborhood treasures.
