Notable Neighbors: Celebrity Real Estate News

SEPTEMBER 29, 2011

Will Smith’s Bond Street stopover is for sale; Stone Phillips flips off the buyer’s market; Dakota Fanning’s idea of student housing doesn’t include a mini-fridge

The apartment that Will Smith has been renting while in New York to film Men in Black III is back on the market now that the movie has wrapped. The full-floor condo at BKSK-designed NoHo star 25 Bond is 7,326 square feet, with 5 bedrooms, 4 fireplaces and a movie star-worthy $19.5 million price tag. Smith was paying $85,000/month to rent the fourth floor unit (Curbed NY).

Teenage Twilight vixen Dakota Fanning won’t be living in the dorms this year when she starts her first semester at NYU. The 17-year old actress just moved into the two-bedroom apartment she’ll be renting in the 1924 Beaux Arts condo conversion at 225 Lafayette Street. The young star’s new neighbors include Theodora Richards (daughter of Keith) and Grammy-winning singer John Mayer (NYPost).

TV news ace Stone Phillips recently made like it was 2005 and flipped his penthouse at 45 Gramercy Park North for $5.7 million. The former Dateline NBC host paid $4.9 mil for the unit last year, with plans to bring in architect Michael Haverland for a big renovation. The overhaul never got further than the floor plan stage, but the possibilities may have been a selling point for the new buyer (CurbedNY).

Residents at the new Carriage House condo at 159 West 24th Street may notice some temporary notable neighbors; Alexander Skarsgard (slinky, saturnine Eric on HBO vamp romp True Blood) and Julianne Moore are shooting Henry James novella adaptation What Maisie Knew at the building (NYPost).
