Notable Neighbors with Former Editors, Barney's Directors, Beauty Moguls and more

JANUARY 6, 2011

Stars of the style world often live in the best nests.

Former Seventeen editrix Atoosa Rubenstein’s Flatiron loft at Altair 18 on West 18th Street gets a grown-up makeover by an in-demand pair of interior-designers-to-the-stars (NY Observer).

Design world power couple (Barney’s New York creative director) Simon Doonan and mod pottery design wunderkind Jonathan Adler are still trying to sell their cool Shelter Island getaway (via Luxist); the asking price was recently reduced to $1.15 million from $1.8 million.

Beauty queen Elizabeth Arden’s former home in one of the city’s most prestigious—and expensive—residences at 834 Fifth Avenue at the corner of East 64th Street across from the Central Park Zoo is on the market for $24,900,000. Other residents in the building include Rupert Murdoch (whose massive triplex, purchased for $44 million, was reportedly among the highest ever paid for a Manhattan co-op) and Bing Crosby’s son, Harry (The Real Estalker).

Executive Suite: Big-deal developer William Lie Zeckendorf has just closed the deal on a new manse (formerly owned by late investment banking legend Bruce Wasserstein) at 927 Fifth Avenue for $29.1 million, $3 million above the asking price (NY Observer).
