Notable NYC Neighbors: Is Oprah Moving to the Upper West Side?

The Upper West Side attracts Oprah and Jessica; Sofia Coppola's NYC loft for sale no more; and Thierry’s aerie changes hands.

Oprah has reportedly been looking at an Upper West Side apartment for sale, seeking a NYC pied-a-terre. The inspirational media influencer recently listed her Chicago apartment and was seen visiting apartments in the Apthorp at 2211 Broadway (RealEstalker).

The 161 Grand Street loft that was home to Sofia Coppola and family - before their recent move to a $9.85 million Morton Street townhouse - just sold for the $2.75 million asking price. The screenwriter/director had purchased the 1,771-square-foot apartment with northern and eastern skyline views in 2002 with then-husband Spike Jonze (TheRealDeal).

Actress Jessica Chastain (The Help) was recently seen looking at an apartment at 119 West 85th Street in the Upper West Side. The Oscar nominee checked out a $1.15 million first-floor apartment with a private garden and not-so-private street-facing windows (CurbedNY).

Fashion and fragrance brand-master Thierry Mugler recently sold his 4,000-square-foot penthouse in the Chelsea Atelier at 245 Seventh Avenue for just under the $7.89 million ask. The designer, who lives in Paris most of the time, bought the lofty-ceilinged apartment with a bi-level terrace for $4.5 million in 2005 (NYObserver).
