One of the city’s most important gallery/performance spaces since the 1970s, The Kitchen continues to lead the way in presenting interdisciplinary art including dance, sound art, music, visual art and photography that is both excellent and avant-garde.

Chashama’s mission is to support creativity in the city by re-purposing vacant properties and buildings in transition, recycling them as artist work and show spaces, granting them at free or highly-subsidized rates, and invigorating the surrounding community with an influx of innovative programs.

With roots in the old school and an eye toward the new, Creative Time has become a substantial arts organization that commissions, produces, and presents art, encouraging artists by giving them big opportunities to take risks with creative expression.

The Invisible Dog opened in 2009, a raw space in a vast converted factory building with a charmed history and an open-ended mission: to create, from the ground up, a new kind of interdisciplinary arts center, presenting visual art exhibits, dance, theater, music performance, film screenings; literary arts, poetry and more.

Occupying a more cerebral corner of the city’s avant-garde art scene, Brooklyn film and electronic arts venue Light Industry looks to foster an ongoing dialogue among a wide range of artists and audiences through a regular program of screenings, performances, and lectures from the worlds of contemporary art, experimental cinema, new media, documentary film and the academy.

Founded in 1997, Eyebeam was conceived as an art and technology center dedicated to exposing broad and diverse audiences to new technologies and media arts. Currently among the leading not-for-profit art and technology centers in the United States, Eyebeam provides a lively incubator of creativity, where artists and technologists actively engage with culture, addressing the issues and concerns of our time.
