"The Alexandria at 201 East 72nd Street on the northwest corner at Broadway was the most attractive new building on the Upper West Side in decades when it was built in 1991.

The 25-story, 202-unit condominium building abounds in nice architectural touches and its location in the lee of the taller Ansonia one block north makes it highly visible from the south. Its distinctive watertank enclosure is a wonderful Post-Modern concoction of Egyptian motifs." Read Carter's Full Review

"There is a health club with a terrace off of it in the back which looks at the facade of a church; below that is a subterranean pool. The health faciitlies are included in the common charges. The building has a full-time doorman and a concierge, resident super & porters. There is a small laundry facility on each floor. Garage in the building This is a condo so they grant a waiver of right of first refusal for both sales & rentals. The application has many aspects of a coop board reference including written personal references, business references, etc. The application processing fees, building move-in fees, etc. are high. They also charge owners a very high fee if they elect to rent their unit out. Pets are permitted. The building is situated across the street from the 72nd St. & Broadway subway. You also have the uptown/downtown Broadway bus there as well as the 72nd Street crosstown bus. Fairway & Citarellas are two blocks up on Broadway at 74th Street."
