Ivy Tower - 350 West 43rd Street: CARTER'S REVIEW

This tall rental apartment tower is very close to Times Square and the Theater District and the many restaurants in Clinton along Ninth Avenue.

It is across 42nd Street from the former McGraw-Hill Building, one of the city's most famous Art Deco skyscrapers, which is just to the west of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Bus Terminal.

Public transportation is excellent.

The building, which is known as The Ivy Tower, has 320 apartments and was designed by Schuman Lichtenstein Claman & Efron.

It is 45 stories tall and has a facade of orange brick and glass and the east section of its top has several setbacks that give the tower a nice dynamic touch.

The building, which is located at 350 West 43rd Street and is also known as 343 West 42nd Street, was developed in 2002 by Friedman Management of which Bernard Friedman is a principal.

The building has a doorman, a party room, "smart-card" laundry room, and a fitness center and kitchens have GE appliances and a slate floor.

An elegant double-height lobby provides a dramatic first impression. A glass-enclosed passageway leads to the Tower surrounded, on one side, by a patio showcasing a sculpture by renowned contemporary artist, Peter Reginato, and on the other side, by a landscaped meditation garden, creating an oasis for calm and tranquil contemplation.
