Top 10 Buildings to Watch the July 4th Fireworks on the East River

For one night a year, New York's hottest spot isn't in the Meatpacking District, the Lower East Side, Williamsburg, or the next undiscovered "it" neighborhood. On July 4th, that honor goes to the East River between East 23rd and East 40th Streets, where the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza will be set off. Any Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Queens neighborhood with an East River view is likely to get very crowded very quickly. Some lucky renters and homeowners, however, can skip all that and enjoy the fireworks from their building's private roof deck, if not their own living rooms. Waterfront buildings in Queens and Brooklyn rank higher on our list because they'll enjoy Manhattan as a backdrop, but certain Murray Hill buildings will get a front-row view of the show.

Top 10 Coolest Rental Rooftop Pools in NYC

New York City in the summer is swampy. Have you ever wondered why it's so darn humid here when other coastal cities are so much drier? The East Coast obviously has a lot of water frontage but what makes the east coast excessively humid is not the amount of water but the temperature of our oceans. The Atlantic and Pacific oceans' currents flow clockwise. For the Atlantic, that means our water comes up from the equator so we have much warmer water than the Pacific Ocean, which flows from the northern Pacific. Hence, NYC in the summer feels like living in a swamp.

The summer is the perfect time to find the closest pool possible. Despite the high value of per square foot prices in New York City, many new residential buildings are providing luxurious pools as amenities to add value and cache to their developments. Here is a list of 10 cool pools in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens to turn our sticky summer into a five-star spa experience.
