Description

1060 Fifth Avenue is one of New York’s premier buildings. Designed by celebrated architect J. E. R. Carpenter and completed in 1928, the building has 48 apartments and 14 floors. 1060 Fifth Avenue has a neo-Italian Renaissance-style faade and is renowned for its gracious layouts and grand-scaled rooms.

This south-facing apartment is housed in one of Fifth Avenue’s must valued buildings. Apartment 3C, at 1060 Fifth Avenue has been the nearly half century home of world-renowned cellist, Christine Walevska. Music of the great composers have been played at concerts hosted by Ms. Walevska in apartment 3C.

The pin-drop silence throughout the apartment has provided an excellent space for Ms. Walevska to host "house concerts" and to create musical recordings. Over the years, many famous musicians have visited the apartment when they had their concerts in New York City. Alexander Romanovsky and Jean-Yves Thibaudet are among the notable world-class musician who have visited the apartment.

Upon reaching the semi-private elevator landing of 3C, one enters into a large foyer, which opens to the beautiful entertaining areas of the apartment.

From the huge living room (29’ X 17’), one looks upon blooming trees through two south-facing windows. Light pours into the room, accentuating its high ceilings (10’5") and wood-burning fireplace. Beyond the trees, historic architecture tot eh south further enhances the views from the apartment.

One may access the gracious dining room either from the grand square entry gallery or from the living room.

The dining room is large (20’ X 12’) and windowed, it is perfect for dinning with a large party or having dinner for two.

The apartment’s high ceilings and striking natural light make this a memorable space. The large kitchen area is windowed and bright and will be a great opportunity for a magnificent new kitchen. Two staff rooms and a full bathroom are accessible through the kitchen and provide an ideal space for staff or office.

There is an additional space for a breakfast room or home office that may be accessed through the kitchen or the foyer.

There are two bedrooms are generously sized, each with south facing windows en-suite baths. The primary bedroom has a large walk in closet and large windows that look upon the beautiful architecture of the Liederkranz Foundation.

This space is a terrific opportunity for anyone who wants to live a minute from Central Park within the museum mile of New York City and near all of the cultural attractions which are part of this glorious neighborhood.
