The Photo Arts Building, 5 East 16th Street

Condo located in Flatiron/Union Square, between Union Square West & Fifth Avenue

Description of The Photo Arts Building at 5 East 16th Street

5 East 16th Street dates back to 1892, when it was constructed as an industrial loft building and attracted such early tenants as The New York Times Educational Line, The Baker & Taylor Company, Neuman Brothers Book Binding, and Oppenheimer & Neuglass. In 1909, four more floors were added and the building was joined with 85 Fifth Avenue. In 1979, the Union Square Theater occupied space in the building and photographers used the upper-level lofts as studios. When it was converted to condos in 2008, it was named The Photo Arts Building and features one unit per floor from the fourth floor up.

The Photo Arts Building welcomes pets, and is half a block from Union Square Park, its dog run, and the Union Square Petco. Additionally, it is fairly surrounded by popular restaurants, nightlife, fitness centers, and shops. It is up the street from the Union Square transportation hub, and a few blocks from the F, M, and PATH trains.
