Rent at 325 Kent Avenue as Two Trees prepares for Domino's next phase

Seeing the iconic Manhattan skyline is one of the top attractions in New York City, and the long-awaited Domino Sugar Factory site redevelopment offers New Yorkers (and tourists, too) another place to catch a glimpse of the city’s shimmering towers while making a statement all its own. Just over a year since the six-acre, award-winning Domino Park opened on the former Domino Sugar Factory site, Two Trees Management announced the opening of the interlocking Ten Grand Street and One South First. The mixed-use buildings' facades by COOKFOX were inspired by the molecular structure of sugar crystals and implemented with sustainable construction practices and designs.

For all the flash, Ten Grand Street and One South First had a tough act to follow thanks to the 16-story, 520-unit 325 Kent Avenue's eye-catching design by SHoP Architects. Architecture critic Carter Horsley compared the sight of it from Manhattan to "a two-toned rectangular doughnut," but it features long, stepped sides in the rear. At any angle, it makes a dramatic skyline statement.

Amenities abound with an 11,300-square-foot club level that spans the entire 17th floor, offering an expansive resident lounge, 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center, plus a 7,000-square-foot roof deck with BBQ grilling stations and awe-inspiring, panoramic views of the Williamsburg Bridge, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. Additionally, there is a 2,000-square-foot fourth floor courtyard offering a reprieve from the bustling South Williamsburg neighborhood around it.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, there is only one available unit in the building, a one-bedroom listed for $4,595/month. Like all other units, it has expansive windows and solar shades, customized closets and washers/dryers. Custom cabinetry, under cabinet lighting and Bosch and Blomberg stainless steel appliances can be found in the kitchen. There is also energy efficient track lighting, Corian windows sills and climate control.

Spread over 11 acres, the Domino Sugar Factory site has been in development for several years. While the master plan emphasizes historic preservation, it also adds modern structures and urban spaces. The base of 325 Kent Avenue contains a unique set of retailers including a gourmet food provision store and craft beer bar, a boutique wine shop, a yoga studio, an independent local pharmacy and a world-class restaurant featuring a Michelin star chef. One South First's retail space will house local favorites like Two Hands, Other Half Brewing, and Roberta’s.

Elsewhere on the premises, new renderings for the transformation of the original Domino Sugar Refinery have been revealed. The demolition of the original interiors is expected to be complete in March 2020, and a steel and glass office structure will be framed by the original building.
