Last year, Long Island-based Saviour Sultana filed permits to build a 7-story mixed-use building at 37-29 33rd Street in the Dutch Kills section of Long Island City. Designed by GKA Design Group, the structure will hold 42 residential units and a light manufacturing space along the ground floor. There will also be 32 parking spaces shared between the cellar level and first floor. A rendering posted on the construction fence shows a conventional design of large windows, PTAC grilles, balconies and a setback terrace. The two pre-existing garage buildings were recently cleared.
Next door at 33-01 38th Avenue, the Hakimian Organization is converting a commercial building into a 92-unit six-story residential building. The 36th street station of the E, M and R trains is located just one block away on Northern Boulevard.
