Revised design for 625 Driggs Avenue (RedSky Capital) Revised design for 625 Driggs Avenue (RedSky Capital)
In summer 2017, Brooklyn-based RedSky Capital filed applications to build a 6-floor, 19-unit residential building at 625 Driggs Avenue and a 5-floor, 20-unit building nearby at 658 Driggs Avenue. The Williamsburg projects are located near the intersection of Driggs and Metropolitan avenues, across from the recently-opened Pod Brooklyn. Both buildings are being designed by the well-respected firm of Morris Adjmi Architects and despite contrasting designs, both pay tribute to the the semi-industrial, loft building character of the area.
Revised renderings published on RedSky’s page show both buildings will be fairly subdued in both scale and design. Echoing many of Brooklyn's old factory loft buildings, 625 Driggs will sport a gray façade of diagonally-pattered masonry, a neat array of multi-pane windows and three retail storefronts at street level. The 6-story building will have 19 apartments, 17 parking spaces, and a tenant recreation room.

One block south, at the corner of Driggs and Metropolitan Avenue, the design for 658 Driggs will feature a beveled red-brick facade with dark-colored steel spandrels. The five-floor building will have storefronts on the ground floor and 20 apartments above. There will also be a rooftop terrace.

RedSky has published a leasing brochure marketing the retail space. The Ben Bernstein and Ben Stokes led real estate firm has several other retail projects underway in Williamsburg and a large-scale development planned at 18 India Street in Greenpoint and 547-571 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn.
