At the beginning of 2019, Centurion Property Advisors purchased The Corner, a well-situated Upper West Side rental at 212 West 72nd Street, from the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America for roughly $227 million. Rumors swirled of a condo conversion, and would soon be confirmed when an offering plan was filed in March 2019. Recently, marketing materials have emerged flaunting reimagined interiors and common spaces designed by CetraRuddy Architects
The former high-end rental building was designed by Handel Architects and is being converted into 126 for-sale residences in one- through five-bedroom configurations. Many apartments will have private outdoor space, and all units will feature airy atmospheres, rich textures, soft neutral tones, and subtle metallic accents. The offering plan now under review lists a whopping $402.52 million sellout; to that end, prices will start at $1.25 million and go as high as over $10 million for the penthouses.

Official amenities have yet to be confirmed, but prospective residents will be pleased to have Trader Joe’s just an elevator ride away. The address is also across the street from the West 72nd Street 1/2/3 subway stop, between Central and Riverside Parks, and in the midst of an Upper West Side building boom. It is next door to 214 West 72nd Street, a slender new condo that has risen on the former site of Dorothy Parker’s childhood home, and down the street from the much-discussed 200 Amsterdam Avenue. It is also a short walk from Lincoln Center, which is set to undergo a renovation of its own.
