The number of available apartments for rent in core areas of New York City continues to plummet, falling from a high of nearly 22,000 in September to 17,779 today. As landlords offer steep discounts to woo lease-signers, Manhattan rents are now the lowest they've been since 2011, coming in at a median of $2,903. While winter is typically a tough time for landlords to find new tenants, we've seen a steady weekly decrease in the number of listing price reductions. This past week saw 846 rental apartments whose prices have been reduced by 5% or more. Weeks prior have had more than 2,000 price improvements. Below, find the full list and some noteworthy two-bedrooms that have recently had their prices slashed.
