However, developer Delancey Street Associates isn't resting on its laurels. On the contrary, work is heating up throughout the rest of the development. 202 Broome Street is only one floor out of the ground, but plans indicate great excitement for the second condominium in the complex. A portion of The Market Line will be housed in the building’s lower level, and there will be 16,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. Excavation work has just begun at 180 Broome Street, but all the promise of Essex Crossing is set to converge in this building inspired by the nearby Williamsburg Bridge: The Market Line is belowground; the ground floor is reserved for retail; floors two through five will have 175,000 square feet of office space; and there will be rental apartments all the way up. Nearly half of the apartments will be affordable, and all residents will have access to a full floor of amenities. All visitors will be greeted by a landscaped public garden.
