Central Park is New York’s most famous outdoor space, and the neighborhoods surrounding it strive to live up to their environment. Central Park West is home to some of New York’s most beautiful prewar cooperatives, as is upper Fifth Avenue on the opposite side of the park. A spokeswoman from New Yorkers for Parks noted that the area near Central Park North has the least parkland of any district in the city, yet has the most residents within walking distance of a park. And thanks to a spate of new development in recent years, there will be more. A look at new condos that have risen along Central Park North and are currently in construction shows an average price of $1,601 per square foot. Compared to their counterparts on Central Park South, this is an incredible bargain.
