During the time Demi Moore and her family lived in a triplex penthouse in the San Remo, an Emery Roth-designed masterpiece, the actress spoke highly of the building’s architecture, history, and Upper West Side address. When she listed it, she added, “This apartment is too magnificent not to be lived in full-time.” Its latest owner appears to disagree - just two years after purchasing it for $45 million, The Wall Street Journal announces that it has been listed for $50 million.

From the listing:
Sitting atop the south tower of the twin towered San Remo, this Penthouse vies as one of Manhattan's greatest trophy penthouses with its rare opulent scale, wrap-around terraces and mesmerizing views in all four directions including Central Park, the city's skyline and the Hudson River all the way to the George Washington Bridge and beyond. Pritzker Prize laureate I.M. Pei’s New York residential projects include Kips Bay Towers and NYU’s Silver Towers, but his true masterpiece is a Sutton Place townhouse he and his wife Eileen purchased more than 45 years ago. In that time, he redesigned the home to his exacting standards both inside and out. His work can be seen in the spiral staircase, large oblong skylight, and fireplace mantels.

Light, airy, and with impeccable interior and exterior renovations designed and implemented by I.M. Pei, this exceptional property features dramatic floor-to-ceiling picture windows facing the verdant Sutton Square Gardens, with views of the East River, Queensboro Bridge, and Roosevelt Island beyond. At the heart of the house is a grand marble foyer and breathtaking spiral staircase of Mr. Pei's design.

Ascending from the first floor to the home's three upper levels, the staircase is capped with a large oblong skylight enhanced with a geometric treatment, reminiscent of Mr. Pei's famed glass pyramid at the Louvre. The extended kitchen, equipped with updated stainless steel appliances, is located on the garden floor and accessed from the foyer.

Following the death of socialite and fashion icon Lee Radziwill earlier this year, her full-floor Upper East Side apartment went on the market for $5.7 million and just closed for $4.25 million. The sister of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Ms. Radziwill became a style icon and princess in her own right and entertained the likes of Truman Capote and Andy Warhol at her home. Mansion Global broke the news and reported that executors of her estate closed on the apartment on the same day Christie’s held an auction of her possessions, which included much of the furniture from the apartment.
