Between the new World Trade Center, striking stalwarts like Woolworth Tower Residences and One Hundred Barclay, and dramatic new designs like 56 Leonard Street and 111 Murray Street, the Tribeca skyline is getting increasingly crowded. However, developer Soho Properties is sure there is room for one more: Its luxury condominium at 45 Park Place topped out at 43 stories high over the summer. A more recent visit shows that the glass curtain wall designed by SOMA Architects is rapidly on the rise.

Meanwhile, possible renderings have been revealed for the new, three-story Museum of Islamic Art on the rise next door. Pritzker Prize laureate Jean Nouvel has been tapped for the design, and renderings by SOMA Architects show a tree-lined entrance with reflecting pools. Both the museum levels and the prayer space are flooded with light. A community center was originally proposed for the site, but this looks like a beautiful place for clubs and organizations to gather as well.
