Months after the teaser site for Brooklyn Point (138 Willoughby Street) went live, Extell’s first Brooklyn tower is well underway. At 68 stories and 720 feet tall, the striking tower designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox is poised to be the tallest residential building in the borough (at least until 9 DeKalb Avenue surpasses it) and the highest rooftop infinity pool in the Western Hemisphere. Also, according to a recent social media post by Extell, sales will officially launch tomorrow!

While other buildings may be nipping at Brooklyn Point's heels in terms of height, they cannot lay claim to the sophisticated marriages of art and utility, and of American and Danish design as seen in the interiors by AD100 designer Katherine Newman. Her “refined interpretation of the nouveau hipster aesthetic” is perfect for the Downtown Brooklyn neighborhood, and she draws many of her inspirations from American artists of the 1950s. A ceramic wall art installation in the lobby is reminiscent of Pop Art icon Roy Lichtenstein’s palette. Above it, a suspended light sculpture and wire sculpture pay tribute to artists from the same era.

The renderings of Ms. Newman’s designs also nod to the building’s 40,000 square feet of amenities. The art in the lobby can be found over the attendant’s desk and concierge area. The wine room is connected to a landscaped outdoor terrace. Elsewhere in the building, an indoor saltwater lap pool and hot tub have lounge seating, and fitness amenities will include a yoga studio and rock climbing wall.
Completion of Brooklyn Point is expected in 2021, and prices will start at $840,000. Its City Point location puts Brooklyn's largest shopping center less than a block away from residents. Vendors include Trader Joe's, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, and Brooklyn vendor showcase DeKalb Market Hall.
