Here's our first look at a dynamic new rental building set for Harlem at 3 West 128th Street. Developer Joel Berkowitz of Brooklyn-based Blue Stone Venture Capital bought the 35-foot-wide vacant lot for $2 million back in October. Permits were filed last May to construct a six-story, 20-unit residential building that will measure 15,896 square feet where 13,163 of it will be utilized for residential space. The units will average 658 square feet each, suggesting rentals. Residents will also enjoy a 433.5 square-foot rooftop recreational space.

Boaz Golani’s of BMG Design Build is listed as the architect of record and J Goldman Design is handling the interiors. The modern exterior will surely be a standout for its modest, brownstone-lined block between Fifth and Lenox avenues. The structure, no doubt inspired by African art, is appropriately located a few blocks away from the Studio Museum in Harlem, a center that celebrates artists of African descent. The property is also surrounded by Harlem's lively restaurants and is only a few blocks away from the 2-3 express subway lines.
