Everything and anything can be a battle in New York City. We battle for personal space, parking space, schools, taxis, subway, bus and ferry seats, and, of course, apartments. We battle new developments that threaten to impact our well-being, housing crisis be damned. As slick new buildings compete against each other for buyers and prized panoramas, nearby residents fight to preserve their diminishing slice of sky. And while far-reaching views are almost never protected, unless you overlook a park or waterway, fights to preserve such vantages in the name of "light and air," "human scale", and "livable neighborhoods" have shaped the cityscape and zoning rules in more ways we can imagine.

As change remains the city's only constant and nearly all mayoral candidates proposing to build hundreds of thousands of apartments, and more proactively targeting well-heeled neighborhoods, no view is guaranteed to last. Even if ephemeral, seizing an open vantage comes at a premium, and the higher you are the more you will pay for rarefied air. Below are two dozen newly-listed apartments whose exposures enjoy interesting views of the city for now.
