Construction is moving apace on HDMI Holdings’ ground-up rental at 168 East 100th Street. Positioned on a hillside block between Third and Lexington avenues in East Harlem, the building is designed by Melamed Architect who specified a gunmetal-grey exterior with a bold diagonal element moving across it.
Earlier this week, the architect celebrated the installation of the last floor and the completion of the main roof. Now with the structural work complete, the façade installation and interior fit-out lies ahead. Inside, there will be 16 apartments in one- and two-bedroom layouts. There will two apartments per floor including garden units.

According to DNAinfo, the New Jersey-based developer acquired the property in 2012 for $900,000 and also own the walk-up next door at 170 East 100th Street. On the project’s opposite side, at 166 East 100 Street, Extell Development is building a 7-story, 11-unit supportive housing building to likely to garner supplementary floor area for another of their developments.
