Much to the consternation of some community activists, the 51-story condominium planned for 200 Amsterdam Avenue is moving forward and hitting important milestones. The Board of Standards and Appeals found the project in compliance of zoning rules, the foundation is wrapping up, and a teaser site has gone live in anticipation of a fall sales launch.

At 668 feet tall, 200 Amsterdam Avenue will be second in Upper West Side residential building height only to Extell’s 50 West 66th Street. This magnificent height will allow for breathtaking views of Central Park, the New York skyline, and the Hudson River. The design by Elkus Manfredi creates a contemporary interpretation of the prewar design seen throughout the neighborhood. Curbed describes its setbacks as “a modern wedding cake vibe,” and it is topped off with a distinctive crown.
All 112 one- through five-bedroom apartments will feature prewar-inspired interiors by CetraRuddy with distinctive entryways, stately kitchens, and marble baths. The masterfully curated amenities will include a fitness center, 75’ saltwater pool, sauna and steam rooms, lounge, private dining room, soundproof rehearsal room, and children’s playroom and performance space.

As tantalizing as the building's offerings are, its greatest lure is its location in the heart of the Upper West Side. Attractions like Lincoln Center, Central Park, the American Museum of Natural History, and Beacon Theatre are a short walk away. Residents will appreciate its proximity to Café Luxembourg, Levain Bakery, Trader Joe’s, Bloomingdale’s outlet, and the 72nd Street subway.
Prices were not listed on 200 Amsterdam Avenue's teaser site, but an accepted offering plan lists a whopping $708 million sellout. CityRealty data reveals that the average price of a Lincoln Center condo is $2.857 million. Its 77 current listings include a $19.5 million four-bedroom at One West End, a $13.995 million five-bedroom at Park Millennium, and a $13.25 million penthouse at Millennium Tower.
