As luxury residential developments–both rentals and condos–vie for sky's-the-limit buyers, prime penthouses are becoming more of an enticement than ever. Often released well after a new building's main offerings hit the market, these sky-palaces span more square feet than the average mansion and, of course, offer to-die-for views of the entire universe. Below are a handful of buildings with room at the top.

Fifteen Hudson Yards

The sleek 910-foot-tall tower at 15 Hudson Yards has held the attention of real estate and skyline watchers since construction began last spring, and just listed for $32 million is penthouse 88B, the first of the building’s four penthouses to arrive on the market. The suitably stunning 5,161-square-foot duplex home sits on the building’s 88th floor overlooking the Vessel, the interactive public landmark designed by Thomas Heatherwick, and The Shed, the city’s newest arts and culture center. Nearly 900 feet in the sky, the trophy penthouse is wrapped with floor-to-ceiling glass spanning 126 linear feet, allowing a 270-degree panorama of Hudson River, New York Harbor, Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline views.

520 West 28th Street

The 6,853-square-foot triplex penthouse, the jewel atop the 11-story condominium on the High Line designed by the late Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid, bears an ask of $50 million. The architecturally unique 39-unit building, Hadid’s first–and, sadly, only–ground-up structure in New York City, has interiors also overseen and designed by the architect.

This newly-minted seven-story Tribeca building is known as much for its famous residents as for its wealthy ones–buyers have included Harry Styles, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, Jake Gyllenhaal, Meg Ryan and Jennifer Lawrence–due to its reputation for both ultimate luxury and absolute privacy from the paparazzi. The building that spent its earlier years housing silver, drug, book-binding, toy and steel-wool companies now boasts an “Ultimate Collection” of loft homes that includes a penthouse listed for $58 million.
