The Artist

Perfect for art enthusiasts, 180 East 88th Street's expansive residences are outfitted with a special picture rail system similar to what is used in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The rail system makes the installation and display of large paintings and photographs incredibly simple yet elegant. Large nine-foot-tall tilt-turn windows have also been intentionally spaced so that there are large swaths of white walls between them, acting as discrete spaces to hang art. In addition to its art-centric residences, 180 East 88th Street’s lobby will add a daily dose of art appreciation to residents’ days with its custom wall installation created by master German plaster artisan Jan Hooss. The one-of-a-kind piece pays homage to the plaster and stucco that was prevalent in Upper East Side architecture at the turn of the 20th century and fuses a rococo design with a whimsically modern aesthetic.
